After the successful first edition, Eastpak Artist Studio returns, the workshop brings together over 130 international designers and creatives from all over the world, in order to customize the mythical Padded Pak’r of EASTPAK.
The event took place on February 2nd in Milan, at the gallery XL Combines, and those who are already following me on Facebook (
http://www.facebook.com/glamtagonist) know that I was taking part!
I was very happy to participate as a blogger to this initiative, also because the aim is undoubtedly the most noble. In fact, this action is focused on over two hundred imaginative reinventions and re-interpretations of the original backpack EASTPAK, created by the work of painters, sculptors, street artists, rock stars, fashion designers – and even celebrity chefs!-, such as the electro-house music group Tiefschwarz, designers Lola and Rocco Toscani, Johnny Marr from the Smiths agency, the nail artist Sophy Robson, the American fashion designer Jordan Better.
Then these special Eastpacks will be sold on the website
Eastpak.com by March 19th, in an auction with proceeds going towards the non-profit association “Beauty Without Irony” for the project ‘Designers Against AIDS’ (DAA). This initiative was launched in 2004 to increase awareness of the media and public opinion on AIDS by using the elements of the popular culture (music, fashion, design, art, sports, celebrities).
Here is my picture with the Italian musician Andy (Andrea Fumagalli), member of the Bluvertigo - a very famous Electro-pop Italian band.
A small preview of my shooting with one of these pieces of art is already available also!:D
